BelmontOh my gosh we had so much fun last night at Belmont University! We’d been looking forward to the show last night for months and it was a blast! Such a cool night. Anyways, we’re on a short two week break before the next show which will be at Vanderbilt University on October 4th when they host Auburn Univeristy. Can’t wait!
Mexicohey! well its been a crazy but really cool week. i went down for the first time ever, to mexico city to help a friend with a big music show yamaha puts on every year all around the world. this particular night was focused on yamaha's drum kits and there were some amazing drummers that played incredibly! 22 drummers from america and mexico played and it was such a cool night of music. mexico city itself was really interesting too...so many of the people there live off hardly anything so i came away with a new appreciation for what we have here in the states. we are definitely a very blessed people!
this week the band and i are gonna be getting ready for our show at Belmont University's Curb Cafe this coming Friday night at 7pm. if you're in the area we'd LOVE to see you! hope you're having a good weekend :) Shows!!!!Hey! Couldn't have asked for better weather too! And we have lots coming up too :) So excited! We're playing a little cafe up north of Nashville next Saturday and then we've got shows at Belmont University in September and then we're gonna be playing some pretty big games at Vanderbilt University which I am SO excited about. So, if you're in the middle TN area definitely try and come out! We're also working on recording some new songs so stay tuned...we'll hopefully have some new stuff up here before you know it....
Story Behind "Letting Go"hey! okay, so i know its been a long time since i updated this. SORRY! well, lots has been going on lately...the band and i have been playing a lot of shows...we had a great show this weekend at the Sam Davis BBQ Festival which was a blast! And we have a show coming up on Saturday which we're really looking forward to. On a personal note related to the band, my buddy Dustin York who plays guitar in the band, and his wife had a baby a few weeks ago! CONGRATULATIONS to them and we cant' wait to have Dustin back after he gets settled in with the new little one.
Okay...with all that said, I've posted some new music on MySpace...FINALLY! The first new song, "All Because of Me" is a work in progress, but is written from a sad time in my life last year when I felt as though I had lost some of the most important people in my life. In reality, I lost no one but just needed to grow up and experience some tough love, which, now I am incredibly grateful for! The second song, "Letting Go" was inspired by three people in my life. The idea initially was inspired by my friend Nichole who I get to work with on an almost daily basis. A few months ago, she started floating the idea that she may move on and do other things with her life from a career standpoint. That made me pretty sad and the initial premiss for the song comes from that. The rest of the song however was inspired by the two most important ladies in my life, after my Mom and Sister of course, who mean the whole world to me...my manager's wife and daughter. See, earlier this year, their daughter, Sydney, took a two week trip with her school overseas to China. And this was the first time that she had been so far away all by herself. Over that two weeks, I saw just a little bit of what its like for a mother to begin letting go of her only daughter. It was amazing to watch and inspired so much of "Letting Go". Hope you like it.
